Football and basketball during the European Youth Week


Yesterday morning started the Sports competitions organized within the 8th edition of the European Youth Week. Like in every edition, the sportive contests brought together, both on fields and in tribunes, hundreds of young people eager to move, run, compete with each other and have a lot of fun.
At 9 a.m., on the two fields of the Sports Highschool from Suceava, the “European Youth Week” Cup at Football started, gathering at the event over 120 young people from 11 highschools from Suceava who got actively involved. After more hours of spectacular games in which the young football players tried hard to prove their qualities to the delight of the audience from the tribunes, the team of the “Mihai Eminescu” National College won by 3 to 0 the final game against the “Dimitrie Cantemir” Economic College. The fight for the third place was won by the “Samuil Isopescu” School Group, after a 2 to 0 game against the pupils from the School Group No. 1. While at the Sports Highschool the youngsters were playing football, the sport hall of the “Petru Rareşâ€ National College was crowded with people who came to watch the basketball competition, where 9 teams from different schools, 3 girl teams and 6 boy teams, fought for the prizes offered by the Sports Department from Suceava. The team of the girls, from the Technical Alimentary College, prepared by teacher Maria Reuţ, won the trophy after 2 victories, with a score of 8 to 2 against the “Ştefan cel Mare” National College and 20 to 19 against the hosts from the “Petru Rareşâ€ National College, who won the second place, after defeating the team from “Ştefan cel Mare” with 18 to 16. At the boys’ teams, the winners were the ones from the “Petru Rareşâ€ National College, followed by the Technical Alimentary College and School Group No. 1.
