“Paţaichin's children”- the surprise of the Interethnic Cup- Bukovina

For the first time at Suceava, the Lipovenian Russians from Tulcea received applauses at the intercultural evening> the gypsies from Gulia, - the best football players> the Italian Community brought Rafael, “un italiano vero”, a young singer, winner of the interpretation contest from Mamaia.
The 4th edition of the Interethnic Cup– Bukovina was a great success. The organizers said so, and, more important, the participants admitted it. Representatives of 7 ethnies from Romania took part, with great pleasure, during 2 days, in sportive contests, in an intercultural evening and in games. The event “won a great image for the city of Suceava”, declared Cornel Grosar, the president of the “Juventus” Association, one of the people who gave a hand at organizing the Interethnic Cup, together with Nelu Todireanu, the president of the “Ana” Foundation. “Both at the sportive contests, and at the intercultural evening, the groups were better prepared than in the previous years”, thought Mihai Adrohovici, the president of the Sports Department from Suceava, who represented, at local level, the “Sports for Everyone” Federation, the main sponsor of the event.

For the first time, this year, representatives of the Lipovenian Russians from Tulcea took part in this event, “Ivan Paţaichin’s children”, being the biggest surprise of the “Cup”. The Hungarians from Topliţa and the Italians from Bucharest and Constanţa also came, bringing along Rafael, the young singer and winner of the interpretation contest from Mamaia. The gypsies from Gulia, Dolhasca, were present, for the third time in a row, and also representatives of the Ukrainian Union from Romania – the Bukovina Region, of the Polish Union and of the German Forum.

The gypsies, winners of the Interethnic Cup at Football

The sportive contests began on Saturday morning, in the athletics hall of the CSM Suceava, with kinball, the game that enjoys a great success on its 2nd edition, when the huge black ball was seen for the first time at Suceava, as a weird thing. But kinball was very much liked among the representatives of the ethnies and became “traditional”, and now it is played with great joy by all the teams made up on the spot in the hall.

In the afternoon, the participants met on the football field of the Sports High school from Suceava, and the games were strong and competitive. The gypsies from Gulia-Dolhasca didn’t have any opponent, and, after 3 games, they beat everybody and won the Football Interethnic Cup.

At Rădăuţi, the people sent from behalf the 7 ethnies took part in the sportive contests, the Russians winning the gun test. The arch test was just an initiation test, none of the present ones knowing too much about this sport. They also had tennis contests, marine games, the later being won by the Italian community.

Intercultural Evening – a music and dance performance

The Lipovenian Russians from Tulcea were also a pleasant surprise during the intercultural evening organized on Friday at Club 60. The Russian blonde young ladies, dressed in national costumes, together with their partners, all dressed in red, white and black, prepared a wonderful performance. Initially set for 10 minutes, their dances lasted up to 25 minutes and nobody regretted. The youngsters proved a true respect for the organizers, their performance being carefully prepared for this visit to Suceava. The Hungarians from Topliţa gave us a little of their national spirit through dance, the boys and girls dressed in national costumes also making proud some Hungarians living in Suceava.

The gypsies from Gulia had the most passionate public, like their dances, the skirts moving on gypsy music and on the audience’s applauses. The Polish, as well as the Ukrainian and everybody else, applauded and sang. The gypsies told poems and sang their gypsy hymn making it sound beautiful in the silence of the room.

The Italians as the Italians have done themselves and have created the most romantic moment of the evening. 3 young men have sung a few songs among which Toto Cutugno’s “Un Italiano Vero”. With his blond locks sexier than some of the girls in the audience, Rafael, the young singer of the Italian community has been cheered by the audience during the 3 songs that he sang at the intercultural evening of the Interethnic Cup. “The manifestation is called the Interethnic Cup, but it would be a lack of common sense to treat it as a Sports competition. It is a happy and success mixture between Sports and the culture of the participants. As always, important things result: friendship, unity and another chance for Suceava to show that it is a row model when it comes to understanding and living together”, said Cornel Grosar.
