Santa Claus, at the opening of the first Children’s Little Town

Stiri

Santa Claus’s sledge stopped yesterday evening, at 6 P.M., in the Areni Park, where the first Children’s Little Town was inaugurated.

Hundreds of children, accompanied by parents or grandparents, came to meet Santa and receive presents from him.

At the opening of this little town many representatives of the local administration were present, as well as local counselors, representatives of the City Hall, who, overwhelmed by the spirit of Christmas, sang carols together with the children who came up on stage.

Santa’s arrival was announced by a group of Christmas messenger “elves”– a group of girls who also represented the Youth Local Council from high schools.

Once Santa arrived, he started offering presents, especially to all the children who got on stage to sing carols to the people in the crowd, and vice mayor Angela Zarojanu and the local counselor Monica Săndulescu became Santa’s “elves”, offering presents to the little ones who did not have the courage to come up on stage and sing carols.

In exchange, the mayor Ion Lungu sang an old traditional carol from Bucovina to all the people present in the park.

Five days of celebration for all the children

The mayor also announced the program of the other little towns for children’s inaugurations: on Tuesday evening – in Obcini near School No.9 "Ion Creangă", on Wednesday- in George Enescu near the “Spiru Haret" High School, on Thursday – in Burdujeni near the St. Andrew’s Church, and on Friday- in Iţcani near the train station. Except for the little town from Iţcani, which will be inaugurated at 12 P.M., all the other little towns will open at 5 P.M.
As Cornel Grosar, the presenter of all these events also declared: “this year we will offer more presents than in the previous 6 years– 10.000 presents”, thanks to the involvement of the authorities from Suceava, of the Ana Foundation and of the Juventus Association.
